- They’re bored. If you give them a super monotonous job, they could be tired of it.
- There are no clear instructions or expectations. When you give them vague instructions or you don’t give them clear targets, they won’t know what to strive for. And if you don’t give any feedback, it’ll make the situation even worse. When they have no idea what they are working for, there’s no reason to keep going.
- They were trying to impress you in the beginning. Maybe because they really wanted to get the job, they were really working 50-60 hours a week. And the productivity you’re noticing now is what they can manage at 40 hours/week.
