So, you’re considering hiring another Online Filipino Specialist (OFS) for your team, but the idea of doing all the work and recruiting is too much.
I completely understand where you’re coming from. But here’s something interesting that comes up quite often:
Can you have your trusted team member handle the recruitment for you on OnlineJobs.ph?
I recently received a question from Corey, who has been working with a VA he hired from my website years ago. Corey wanted to know if having his VA source another with a specialized skill set is a good idea. He values their working relationship and wants to tap into their knowledge and network.
It’s a common question, and I have a few thoughts to share.
First of all, I wouldn’t rely solely on your long-time trusted team member for recruiting.
In the early days, I used to ask my team if they knew anyone for a specific role, and it would often take them weeks to respond with a potential candidate. They took their time, vetting the person, assessing their suitability, and considering the impact on their own reputation. They will only refer to someone who they think is reliable because it reflects on them. While your team members may bring in excellent candidates, their selection process might differ from yours.
Now, let’s talk about using OnlineJobs.ph for the recruitment process.
Yes, you can definitely have your team members recruit someone from there. However, keep in mind that we don’t currently offer sub-accounts on OnlineJobs.ph for team members to access your employer account directly. You would have to grant them access to your own account, which has its limitations. It’s something we might consider in the future, but for now, it’s not available.
If you decide to have your team member take on the recruiting role, it’s crucial to communicate your expectations clearly. Explain what you’re looking for, provide them with all the necessary information, and outline your desired recruiting process.
Remember, they might not have prior experience with hiring or evaluating candidates, so guiding them through the process can be helpful.
On the other hand, if the recruited person will report directly to your team member and not to you, it’s more reasonable to have them handle the hiring process. In such cases, they can take charge of the recruitment, training, and management of the new OFS. This arrangement can be beneficial for both their professional growth and your own.
Ultimately, my advice is this:
If the new hire will be reporting directly to you, it’s advisable to conduct the interviews yourself. This ensures that you find the right fit for your specific requirements and working style. However, if the new hire will be reporting to your trusted team member, giving them the responsibility to recruit and manage can be a great opportunity for growth and delegation.
If you want to know how I find my OFS, I’ve shared my personal approach at OneVAAway.com. There, you can access detailed insights into my methodology, including how I narrow down candidates, conduct tests, negotiate, and make final decisions.
Remember, each situation is unique, and you should assess what works best for your business and team dynamics. Whether you choose to have your team members recruit or take charge yourself, OnlineJobs.ph remains an excellent platform to find talented OFSs who can contribute to your business’s success.
Good luck with your hiring journey!
