Hiring Newbie Workers – Practical Advice

Is one of the reasons you’re not outsourcing because you’re worried you won’t find anyone experienced and highly skilled? Why not take a chance on newbies?

I get why experienced workers are always the first choice – it’s because we think that “experienced” means “skilled”.

Let me tell you, that is only sometimes the case. Sometimes, experience means tons of baggage that need to be unlearned, which will also require work.

Getting someone green for your business means you have someone who’s like a brand-new sponge willing to soak up anything you teach them – and this is good for you because this means you get to teach them how they’re going to do things for your business the way you want it done.

Here are some benefits of choosing a newbie over an experienced worker:

  • Newbies can bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the table.
  • They are typically less expensive to hire than more experienced professionals, which is what a starting business needs, especially if your business still needs to manage a budget.
  • Newbies are often eager to learn and improve their skills, making them highly motivated and productive workers.
  • Hiring and giving them their first break builds loyalty. You’re giving them a chance to start their career with your business, which shows that you value their potential and are invested in their success.
  • Newbies have the potential to grow and develop within your business, which can be beneficial for both the OFS  and your business. So go ahead and invest in their training – you can help them build the skills and knowledge they need to take on more advanced roles in the future.
