It’s time for another practical outsourcing advice!
This is one of the many installments for this series of tips and advice where I share what I know about outsourcing, particularly, outsourcing to the Philippines.
Somebody asked me, “How do you judge when to help someone?”
This question stemmed from him being asked by his OFS for financial help to pay medical bills. This isn’t really an isolated case. Sooner or later, your Online Filipino Specialist might ask you for help, too. Life is hard in the Philippines, and your OFS could use your help in the future.
So, how do I know when it’s the right time to lend a hand?
As a general rule, establish trust first. If someone asks for help on the get-go, this should automatically be a red flag. In my experience with Filipinos, I find them really shy, especially when letting you know they’re in trouble or need help. So question their intentions if a Filipino asks for help when they don’t even know you yet.
When you’ve invested time and trust with your OFS, go ahead and help them to your heart’s content. But make sure you also gauge the situation. Lend a hand, but don’t forget to protect yourself and your business, too.
Another thing is loans.
Let’s get this straight — you have no obligation to give your employees a loan. I do it because I want to help, and I like to think I do it smartly.
I also have a new book that I am giving away for free, The Outsourcing Lever. It’s about how I have done outsourcing over the years. Get more information here.

Hi,
If my proof of ID is below 100 would mean no job is suitable for me? is there any hint on how to determine if you are qualified? will the website will highlight or clickable?
Thanks,
Lourdes
Jessica Marie says
Hi Lourdes,
Thank you for your comment. There are job posts that requires you to have an ID Proof more than it is required (for example, if a job post says that ID Proof score is 65, your ID Proof score should be higher than 65)
