Why I Won’t Recruit For You – Practical Advice

I always receive requests from employers asking me to recruit someone for them. But my answer remains the same: No.

Why?

Simple. I may be good at recruiting since the first person I hired in 2005 still works for me today, but I am not good at recruiting for you.

I believe that hiring isn’t about finding a skill; it’s about hiring a person you can work well with for a long time.

You are the best person to hire for yourself because you can tell a person’s personality before you hire them. Even with my hiring experience and knowledge, it would not be as effective as when you are doing the vetting.

Although I am adept at recruiting, I fall short of doing it for you.

I’ve learned in hiring for myself that I had to find someone who complements my own personality. I am looking for someone I won’t mind working with for years.

I’m not sure what kind of character suits your business or culture. Additionally, I don’t know your personality, so if I hire someone for you, it might just not work.

Some people like to work independently, while others prefer to work as a team. You can’t find out about these things unless you do your own interviews. Some people are outspoken, while others are quiet and introverted. If you do it yourself instead of having me do it for you, you’re more likely to find a good person.

I started OneVAAway.com to show you how to do the recruitment process yourself.

Our blog has many practical tips like this one. Head on to our outsourcing education page to catch the whole series.
