How We Provide Health Insurance To Our OFS – Practical Advice

In the Philippines, health insurance is not required by law. Workers in the Philippines do not automatically get health insurance if they find a job.

It is a perk that not most businesses offer, but, like here in the US, it makes people stay and keep working for a company.

What they have is Philhealth. PhilHealth subsidizes their hospital bills based on the amount they have incurred. The agency typically pays parts of the doctor’s professional fees, laboratory tests, and other medical costs. It pays part of the bill, but not all of it.

We believe that healthcare is important – it shows you care about your employees, another way to gain their trust.

Onlinejobs.ph does not have an office in the Philippines – we do not have an entity in the Philippines, so we cannot provide business HMO.

What we do is we have our OFSs look for the best HMO for their needs, apply for the coverage themselves, pay the initial cost, and then reimburse them.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to do this. You don’t need to provide HMO, especially if you’re hiring someone for a short period of time.

But if you’re in this for the long haul and you see the value of having an OFS, consider providing health insurance if possible since it is a substantial added value for employees (and their families) over the long run.
