Now that you understand how important it is to hire an SEO specialist, you’re probably wondering how to actually do it.
Lucky for you, I’ve perfected that hiring process. Here are my 7 steps to hiring an SEO specialist:
1. Decide exactly what you’re looking for.
Most people look for strong SEO and English skills. Be clear about the specific tasks and goals you want help with.
2. Browse OnlineJobs.ph to see what’s out there.
Know your options. Take a look around and get familiar with the kinds of SEO specialists available.
3. Write a job post and publish it on OnlineJobs.ph.
Once you have an idea of what’s out there, write your job post. And if you need help, I walk you through the whole process at OneVAAway.com.
4. Start a conversation with applicants via email.
Ask them a series of questions over a few emails. This is when people start dropping out, and the serious ones stick with it.
5. Give your shortlist a test task.
Once you narrow it down to 5–6 candidates, give them a test. If it takes more than 30 minutes, make it a paid task.
6. Choose your final 2 and start negotiating.
When you’re down to 2 candidates, negotiate terms. That back-and-forth will usually give you a gut feeling about which one is right.
7. Hire them!
Get them started with the first task. Begin learning how to work together and build that working relationship.
