Joven was my first virtual assistant. He was the first one I hired, and he was with me when I built OnlineJobs.ph.
Way back in 2005, there weren’t a lot of Filipino virtual assistants. Not many people risk working with an employer who lives across the world. And those who do either know what they are doing or don’t have any clue.
Joven was one of the latter.
I did not know it then, but in 2007, Joven confessed that he didn’t know anything when he started working for me.
But you know what? I didn’t realize it then. I didn’t think he didn’t know what he was doing because he was willing to learn the ropes and eager to do the work. He didn’t say he couldn’t do something; instead, he taught himself and got good at what he was doing.
It took me a long time to figure out that Joven had already become an expert at my business. In fact, it took another Online Filipino Specialist’s mistake to realize that I needed someone else to manage the business for me. When I did, I figured no one else was more capable than Joven.
So, what made him the expert that he is now?
Training. Training that I didn’t even realize I gave him.
If you want to start your outsourcing journey, remember that the key to finding the right person is the right process. And that’s what I teach at OneVAAway.com. I’ll show you that finding the right virtual assistant doesn’t have to take that long. So even if you’re super busy, you’ll find the time to get a VA yourself. Because when you follow the process yourself, that’s how you find the best person for your business.
I also have a new book that I am giving away for free, The Outsourcing Lever. It’s about how I have done outsourcing over the years.
