Since I started outsourcing in 2005, I have only had about a dozen people leave my team.
I recently received a question about turnover.
According to the business owner, he’s offering his OFSs:
- 13th-month bonus,
- HMO insurance,
- higher wage, and even
- daily huddles.
Despite all of these, the business has gone through at least 30 OFSs in the last 3 years!
I could not imagine having 30 people leave in such a relatively short period, especially Filipinos. In my experience, Filipinos are super loyal and will do anything to make you happy and the business successful.
I like to believe that while people get to work for money, a high salary wouldn’t really make them stay.
We can argue that it could be a cultural thing with Filipinos, but an average of 10 people leaving each year is not a coincidence; there might be something missing.
So I wondered, could it be more of a managerial issue?
If you’re also experiencing a high turnover, try looking inwards. Ask your team if there’s something that needs to change.
Here are some reasons that could be causing some unhappiness in your team:
- They might be bored
- They might not feel they are heard
- They think they might lose their job
- They feel their ideas are always shot down
- They see themselves as ‘Freelancers’
- I Don’t Promote ‘Reviews’
Let’s talk and delve a little deeper into these reasons.

Providing jobs for the needy ones is an honorable character. Much to my appreciation that you believe in us Filipinos loyalty to our employers and the trust you see. Employees work for personal reasons to live and support their family, however job turnover happens normally depending on the environment, economic situations and social conditions of the present times.

One of the big reasons why OFS resign from their jobs is they feel they are being exploited by their foreign employers. I’m talking from experience. There are quite many foreign employers who post jobs with glamorous sounding titles, and the one who gets hired later on finds out that the job is nothing more than purely clerical and data entry and quite tedious. Employers should be straightforward about what the job really is and what it entails. There are also many occasions when the OFS is made to do tasks outside of the official job description or expectation. Additionally, there are foreign employers who are willing to pay more money than most, BUT require you to work 7 days a week. OFS need to have good work-life balance, too!

I don’t know in this kind of situation it seems like I’ve been cornered by a bunch of toxic managers and supervisors and I don’t have a choice but to suffer since my work experience is not enough to achieve the Job desire posted on an online site.
