What does a daily report from my OFS look like?
For their report, I would ask them to send me an email answering these 3 questions:
- What did you do today?
- What problems did you run into?
- What can I help you with?
The answers vary for question number 1.
Some give short, bullet point answers. Some give detailed answers. Sometimes I get the same answer everyday (this happens to my staff who do the same thing everyday).
The important thing is that they take the time to write the report and send it to me.
I don’t often get an answer for questions 2 and 3. Because for the most part, they can solve a lot of the problems they encounter on their own. And if they really need my help with something, it’s going to be a separate email.
So if I don’t get answers to questions 2 and 3, why do I keep asking them? The questions are there mainly to help prevent my workers from disappearing. It’s to remind them that if they run into problems, I’m always here to help.
Submitting a daily report is about accountability. That’s how you know if your online Filipino specialist is productive or not. When you don’t get reports, that’s the problem. In most cases, that means they’ve started to disappear.
When that happens, reach out to them. Ask them what’s wrong and if there’s something you can do to help. Most of the time, it’s a minor issue that can easily be fixed. Just remind them that the daily report is important. And when they run into problems, make sure they put it in the daily report.
I talk more about this and other outsourcing management tips in my book Outsourcing Lever. I talk about the 13th month, how to pay your OFS, whether or not you should give paid time off. Knowing this stuff early on is going to save you a lot of grief in the future. So make sure you check out the book at OutsourcingLever.com
