I wanted to stop trying because it was not working. It was just too painful. In 2004, I was fresh out of college, bright-eyed, and excited for the online business that I was starting. I thought everything would be easy; everything would be automated. I thought I would work only a few hours a day. Boy, was I wrong. I worked 60 hours a week, and I knew I needed help. I hired one person after another, but all of them just quit after finding out what kind of business I was doing because they thought they’d do it themselves and start a business of their own. I then started to do outsourcing — I’ve hired through Elance, hired contract workers, hired per-project workers, hired people from India — but it just wasn’t working.  Things started to pick up when I followed a friend’s advice to outsource to the Philippines. I saw hope. But I encountered another problem. I was hiring through an agency then, and two people had already quit on me in a span of two weeks! But those two weeks were great! Work was done, and I got a taste of what it would be like if you had someone good working with you. I wanted to do the interview myself because I wanted to know who to hire. I wanted to be the one to gauge their skills and personality. But I wasn’t allowed. So, I thought, why don’t I be the one to start it?  There’s more to this story.
