Let me tell you a story about my son and how I found out what his 20% is here
The Pareto principle, or the 80/20 rule, is a theory that says 80% of the output from a given situation is determined by 20% of the input.
A practical example of the Pareto principle would be:
- 80% of your sales come from 20% of your clients
- 80% of results are caused by 20% of thinking and planning
- 80% of projects get completed in the last 20% of the time before a deadline,
- or 80% of your website traffic comes from 20% of content.
In my business, my 20 percent is creating content. It is what I make an effort to do every day because I know that content drives my business forward. I have OFSs who also help me in content creation, I have them do email newsletters and blog posts.
How about you? Do you know which 20% is the driver of your business’ success? If not, evaluate what you’re doing, find that 20% that you need to focus on, and, well, focus on that. Focus on your 20%.
What about the other stuff?
Do what I do, focus on the 20% business driver, and delegate all the tasks and stuff.
It’s the same for Steve Raiken of RaikenProfit.com. He focuses on his 20% and outsources everything else to his team in the Philippines.
This practical advice is just one of many we have on our blog. Head on to our outsourcing education page to catch the whole series.
