How Do Pay Raises Work? – Practical Advice

Like any other employee, Online Filipino Specialists have money on their minds.

Personally, I want to keep my OFSs so I try to keep them happy. I want to avoid losing my loyal OFSs just because they can make more money elsewhere, so I regularly offer them pay raises.

So, how do pay raises work when you’re outsourcing?

Honestly, there’s no standard on how raises should be done. You don’t have to do a performance review, but it’s totally okay if you want to! You make your own rules.

I give my OFSs a yearly raise, depending on how I think they did over the year. But, I also give them raises whenever I think they did an exceptionally good job at something.

Another way I do it is to start them with a salary that’s less than what I think they should get, then offer a raise after a couple of months of good performance. When they’ve been working for me for 6 months and they’re consistent with their work, I offer them another raise.

I also love giving out bonuses for a job well done. If someone’s doing really well, I want them to know that I appreciate them and I acknowledge their loyalty and hard work.

The way I look at it, I treat my OFSs the way I want to be treated if I was the one working for them.

This practical advice is just one of many we have in our blog. Head on to our outsourcing education page to catch the whole series.

I also have a new book that I am giving away for free, The Outsourcing Lever. It’s about how I have done outsourcing over the years. Get more information here.
