Maximizing Your Remote Team’s Potential: When the Checklist is Fully Checked Off

How can you tell that you have a highly efficient remote team?

When they run out of things to do.

They work so well on their tasks that they tend to finish them early, before the due date. The question is, what happens next?

At Onlinejobs.ph, we’ve cultivated a culture where our employees have a say on things they want to work on during their free time. This practice effectively ensures our online Filipino specialists remain productive. It also ensures that they are working on projects that they thrive in. All this leads to higher productivity for the business, which ultimately leads to more growth.

This makes the OFS feel that the job is stable and they’re not in danger of losing it all of a sudden.

Job stability is a big deal in the Philippines because, despite the government’s efforts, EndO is still rampant in many of the country’s biggest industries. What is EndO? It’s the Filipino slang that shortens the phrase End of Contract. Most Filipino service workers are required to re-apply and sign a new job order contract after six (6) months of service, which is when their probationary contract ends. This happens regardless of whether they’ve been working for the same company for years or are new to it.

So once a Filipino worker finds a stable job without the EndO, they will do everything they can to keep that job for as long as possible. The freelancer version of this is choosing between working for project-based versus full-time clients. The project-based ones often entail receiving no pay when no work is submitted. The majority of online Filipino specialists will most definitely choose the full-time client.

Paying your OFS a fixed salary is also easier for you. This way, you can hand them some tasks to work on without having to calculate the cost every time. And since you’re paying your remote team for their time, you may as well consistently give them something to do. Now you don’t have to worry about paying them to sit around doing nothing.

This brings us back to cultivating a culture of taking the initiative to do work outside of what you’ve hired them to do. The upside for them is they eventually gain additional skills, while also honing their existing skills.

What’s the upside for you as a business owner?

This forces you out of your comfort zone. You won’t settle for just keeping the status quo, earning the same amount as before. You must start looking for ways to up the ante – increase your profits. Focusing on the business will eventually lead to more work for your OFS, and the cycle goes on and on. The return on your investment should be more than what you’ve initially invested when hiring that OFS full-time.
